Massage therapy can be helpful in reducing anxiety and stress. According to Anxiety and Depression Association of America, about 1.5 percent of the U.S. population (about 3.3 million American adults) suffers from Anxiety. Many people with an anxiety disorder also have a co-occurring disorder or physical illness, which can make their symptoms worse and delay the recovery. Massage helps the body in many ways. The two major effects of physical manipulation in massage therapy are, increase in blood and lymph circulation and relaxation and normalization of the soft tissue. It relaxes the muscle tissues which will help to decrease nerve compression, increase blood circulation and enhance the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to muscle cells. It's proven that massage therapy can reduce pain, promote muscle relaxation, and improve mood and enhance sleep quality. A lot of people rely on massage therapy and similar chiropractic methods to help themselves from insomnia and depression. But still, most of us aren't aware of the benefits of such chiropractic care. I personally have experience with massage therapy. It cured my 5 years old back pain. I took help from a chiropractic clinic in Toronto. Add and share your experiences related to massage therapy here.
